On the 30th April three academics from the University of Chester associated with the laser laboratory research team, lecturers Alice Gillett and Gavin Hazell, plus Masters researcher Hannah Eccleston, attended the NBIC (national biofilms innovation centre) biofilms engineering workshop in Edinburgh. Attendees of the workshop included both academic and industry partners with a research focus surrounding biofilms. This is the second workshop NBIC has held and focused on the use of biofilm engineering to improve a range of technologies. The day gave the trio opportunity to have insightful group discussions surrounding current research into biofilms along with the challenges that are faced, future research ideas and what steps are required to overcome these challenges. The workshop was a fantastic way to network with fellow biofilm enthusiasts and the team look to incorporate some of these ideas into our on going research.
